The response to the #shortsindecember initiative has been awesome. Thanks to all who are taking interest. One thing I failed to mention is that you need to understand yourself and your body. It takes time, but eventually you'll figure it out. My weight-loss mission started when I chose to cut down on certain things that cause weight gain when eaten in excess, such as sugar, bread and fast food. Instead of three teaspoons of sugar in my tea, I had 1.5 teaspoons. Instead of 4 slices of bread, I ate 2. That lead to me eventually not having any sugar at all in my tea or coffee. It got easier because I made step by step changes.
I would not recommend a drastic change like completely cutting carbs or sugar out of your diet. Carbs are needed for energy, after all. Maybe you could try not eating carbs or sugar after a certain time. Last year, I didn't eat carbs after 7pm. This year, I don't eat them after 12pm. Be sure to stock up on lots of fruit and veggies, as you may not know what to eat when you can't eat carbs (that so happened to me). And by 'carbs' I mean your basics such as bread, rice, pasta, potatoes.
